hodgman blogs meomi! [Wednesday, May 14th, 2008]
[ mood | still pooped! ]
[ music | nothin! ]

Mike just told me about this: my literary/TV-crush John Hodgman blogged about our beloved Meomi today! How incredibly cool is that? No, he doesn't quite mention them by name, but he does declare that "Canada Is Perfect." And with half of the Meomi team right across the border, how could we argue with that?

So yay for the Hodge and yay for Meomi, and just for kicks, here's a pic of me with the Hodge back from 2006. He is so awesome!

CURSES!!! I thought I had hit "Submit" on this post, but I guess it's just been sitting here, boo! But here it is now, along an extra copacetique news update!

We're absolutely delighted to have cold licorice joining copacetique again with her super-pretty accessories!

Super-astute copacetique shoppers may have noticed her pieces slowly going online all last month --- the perfectionist in me couldn't stop fussing with the pictures, so it took me forever to finally get the whole collection on the website! The vintage treasures that Michelle uses in her work are so exquisite, I felt my pictures just weren't doing them justice... you'll be so thrilled to see how even prettier these pieces look in person! (That sentence has a lot of "p" words!)

And I'm so super-excited about the latest addition to the copacetique family: Humblechan! Since getting her collection in at casa de copacetic, I can't even tell you how many times I've been getting dressed for the day and thought to myself, "You know what would go perfect with this outfit? That necklace!..." You will feel the same way once you see her work.

Plus, this Canadian cutie donates a percentage of her profits to organizations that help animals! What a warm heart! And even her company name is a combination of her name (Chan) and her kitty's name (Humble). We send hugs to them both!

welcome welcome! [Sunday, March 30th, 2008]
[ mood | pooped!!! ]
[ music | whatever they're playing at georgetown records ]

Hooray, we have an awesome new designer joining us today! Join in me in welcoming Glamourpuss Creations to the copacetique cavalcade of cuteness!!!

Anyone who knows me knows I am a sucker for accessories from the 1960's, which is what totally drew me into her work! She takes components from vintage accessories and re-works them in an updated modern way. So cool! Click on by and check out her designs!

PLUS, we have an old friend returning to copacetique soon (some of her work is already up, if you're sneaky... just a few more pieces to add), AND an AWESOME new friend coming up soon! And more adorable-ness on the way, as always, but I don't wanna give away any surprises! Thanks for reading, and stay tuned! ;)

We're super-happy to announce that Maryland-based designer Art School Dropout has rejoined the cavalcade of cuteness at copacetique! I wish I could remember when Jessee first joined us, but I sure as heck remember how immediately people starting freaking out over her designs. It's so nice having her aboard again!

And we have so much more around the corner, including another old copacetique friend and a brand-new friend who you're sure to love, too! Yay!

advertising opportunity! [Sunday, March 16th, 2008]
[ mood | exhausted ]
[ music | america's next top model! go lauren! ]

Hey guys!

Jessica from Funky Finds dropped us a line to let us know that her blog has gotten a makeover, and she has lots of opportunities for advertising your wares! Check it out!

As you may have noticed, Funky Finds received an exciting make over. In an effort to dedicate my site to promoting independent artists, crafters, and designers worldwide, Funky Finds now offers paid advertising. I believe that these affordable opportunities will enable independent business owners to increase exposure & drive more business to their websites. I have received nothing but positive feedback regarding the ad manager script I am running on Funky Ad Space. Advertisers are able to view their real-time stats & determine how effective their ad actually is.

In addition to advertising, I will be hosting a giveaway monthly. Readers love free products & they enjoy spreading the word about giveaways on various sites. The last week of each month in 2008 will have a theme. For example, the last week in February was dedicated to promoting independent jewelry designers. A giveaway will also be sponsored during the week featuring donated items from various business owners & designers. Below is a list of the themes for each month in 2008. I hope that knowing this in advance will enable you to donate prizes if you wish, as well as determine when you would like to advertise on Funky Finds. Also, once I receive your donation I will link to your business on my giveaways page. This will increase exposure to your site prior to the actual giveaway.

I am an advocate for buying handmade items & for supporting independent business owners. I grew up in an environment that encouraged creativity & creating items by hand. If you have any feedback or comments, feel free to email me anytime. Also, do not hesitate to ask any questions regarding advertising, giveaways, or any other topic. Please note that advertising on Funky Finds is NOT necessary to be a featured find. My site exists to help spread the word about your products.

Cheers,
Jessica Hood

SASHA Farm Fundraising Call! [Sunday, February 24th, 2008]
[ mood | pretty blah ]
[ music | whatever they're playing at georgetown records ]

So, surely all my crafty/artsy/fartsy friends support Crafters for Critters and send awesome handmade goods to the lovely Miss Melissa, right? Of course you do!

Then, you might already know, but Melissa sent out the call that SASHA Farm, the recipient of the very first round of CFC, is looking for donations for a banquet/silent auction they're organizing. Please read the message below from Sarah of SASHA Farm, and feel free to contact her directly with any questions.

Hello Crafters!

I am organizing a fundraiser for SASHA Farm in Manchester, Michigan, and I could really use your help. SASHA is the Midwest's largest farmed animal sanctuary, with over 200 rescued or abandoned animals currently living there. We have abused cats, retired race horses, a boar who was orphaned when his mother was killed in a hunter's trap, goats rescued from meat markets, two steers who escaped from the slaughterhouse truck, and much more. Our animals come from sad beginnings, but their stories end happily because at SASHA Farm each of our residents is given food, shelter, medical care and lots of love for the rest of their lives.

The fundraiser is a silent auction, and in past auctions handmade items have sold exceptionally well. I'm looking for jewelry, paintings, pet stuff, home goods, anything that will generate bids for the animals. The only guidelines are that donations must be vegan (no wool, feathers, suede, bone, etc) and I must receive all items by April 12, 2008.

SASHA is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit, so all donations are tax-deductible. Your website will appear on the list of donors that is part of the evening's program, as well as on the SASHA website so that auction guests can find your shop. If you have business cards for your shop, send them along and I will display them with your donation.

To learn more about the sanctuary, you can visit the website at www.sashafarm.org, or contact me at silentauction@sashafarm.org.

Thank you so much for your time, I appreciate any help you can provide!

-Sarah Maki

I completely intend to get my butt in gear and send something for this!

screw you, groundhog. [Saturday, February 16th, 2008]
[ mood | okey-dokey ]
[ music | flight of the conchords dvd ]

So, the groundhog saw his shadow earlier this month, which is supposed to mean six more weeks of winter, but I decided to chase the snow away from the copacetique website and break out springtime a little earlier. Screw you, groundhog.

To help get you in the mood for spring, I've rounded up some of our cutest products, yay! And speaking of cute products...

Welcome to the latest addition to our collective of cute, Destroyed by Design! Each necklace is handcrafted using recycled paper and plastic by St. Louis-native, Shelah. They're so adorable!

We have more cute stuff on the way! Hopefully the weather in real-life will take its cue from my site, and the sun will come out so I can take better product photos!!!

Welcome to our latest designer, Hoopla, who've created these retro-inspired valentine's day cards, in stock now at copacetique! So much fun!

Also, we have even more adorable products in stock from Seattle's own Matthew Porter. How does he do it?!

I'm watching "Project Runway" right now and Christian and Chris are just so freaking adorable together, I wish they would get paired up for every challenge. Or maybe Bravo can give them their own spin-off, please. Like, they're roommates... like Oscar and Felix! I'd so watch!

spend 2008 in monkey world! [Thursday, December 27th, 2007]
[ mood | so freakin tired... ]
[ music | Mane Joao - Erasmo Carlos ]

I've been walking around in a post-holiday daze with my arms covered in twisted-up-pieces of packing tape and my hands scarred up with cardboard-paper-cuts, but a few more cookies and cups of egg nog, and I'll be just fine.

But I couldn't let another day go by without letting you know about these awesome new calendars we just got in stock! You know your cubicle at work is a bore, and you spend the business hours staring off into space, daydreaming about vacation... well, with these nifty desk calendars from Seattle artist Matthew Porter, every month you'll have a fabulous new destination at your fingertips, complete with chimp companion!

Click on by and check 'em out!

And, also I just want to thank everyone who shopped with us for the holidays, and everyone who shopped with us at all this year, everyone who supported us when we closed back in March, and everyone who cheered us on when we re-opened mid-year, our amazing designers and artists who consign with us, and everyone who submitted applications to be a part of our collective of cute, and everyone who blogged about us, and everyone who wears or uses anything from copacetique, and everyone reading this.

[ music | "king of the hill" re-runs... the david cross episode! ]

The holidays have kept us on our toes, so site updates have slowed while we pack and ship your seasonal orders, but we just had to introduce you to Beastlies! These adorable hand-sculpted creatures would look soo cute peeking out of a stocking!

We are shipping orders out daily using USPS Priority Mail, which takes 2-3 days to ship. However, the USPS does not guarantee it'll arrive in 2-3 days, so keep that in mind and get your orders in sooner! Of course, gifts from copacetique are adorable any time of the year!

Thank you SO MUCH again, and we hope you're having a wonderful holiday season!!!

xoxo janice

We have another AMAZING update at copacetique this week, holy moly!!!

We are enormously honored to be carrying these gorgeous cards, featuring the artwork of the late, great Jim Flora! Jim Flora was an amazing illustrator who worked from the 1940's all the way to 1998, when he sadly passed away. His artwork appeared on tons of album covers, and he even authored and illustrated 17 children's books! He's such an icon, and we're totally jazzed (heh!) to have his work in stock!

We're pleased as punch to welcome back Happy D Designs to copacetique! This Canadian cutie designs cheerful cards using her original illustrations stamped onto 100% post-consumer recycled cards! We're happy to have them back in stock!

And finally, we welcome the delightful sisters from Singapore, Maki Squarepatch, to copacetique! Their quirky, patchwork-style products are simply bursting with personality, AND these ladies strive to use all recycled materials in their products for 100% handmade eco-goodness!

So much more on the way! Thank you so much for reading this!!!
